This past weekend was the final weekend of racing for the SVRA (Sportcar Vintage Racing of America) organization. In order to be a member of the SVRA, your car must be at least 20 years old to participate. DH has a 1970 BMW that he road races. (For those of you who are not in the know - his car goes both ways, not like round track (Nascar) that goes only left.)
This is where he spend a lot of his time on Friday. Up under the car laying in the rain. The oil pan had a leak and he tried to stop it with this black glue stuff made especially for this. Needless to say with the rain on Friday there was not much raceing by anybody. But Saturday the sun came out and the patching he did the day before worked and he got to run the first qualifying race of the day.
His second qualifying race of the day was canceled after the first lap. During this lap one of the cars in his group, crankshaft broke and came up into the car and injured the driver. Luckily it did not kill the driver, but did cost him part of his leg.
Here we are by his pride and joy before I left for home Saturday morning. Oh he does enjoy his car, but at times I wish he would go back to playing golf. It's safer!
